Kairos Days Retreat
Did you know that that there was an 81% spike of interest in retreats during 2020, according to research?
The pandemic and lockdowns may be over but there are still times when we think ‘Stop the world, I want to get off!’ This is a place where you can do just that.
It was a cold and windy morning in March 2020 we discovered Court Row Farm Barn. The road was covered in mud from busy tractors yet in the midst of the chaos, we were touched by an immense sense of peace and knew we had found what we were looking for, a place to call home and a gift to share with others.
As a church minister, I always valued retreat space to withdraw from a hectic schedule and just be. I didn’t embed this into my diary from the beginning. I learnt the hard way. It took me to burnout to realise how wise the advice really was.

These days became Kairos Days for me, not Chronos – measured by time but opportune days planned into my diary that always seemed to come around at just the right moment.

Taking a Kairos day or a longer retreat away from daily life gave me space to breathe, to relax, be refreshed and reconnect deeply with myself and God. I experienced the gifts of such days as a sense of calm, reinvigoration, a creative spark, a renewed sense of purpose and a new perspective way beyond the focus of the day.

It was a natural step to use my enthusiasm for Kairos time for others and I become a retreat leader and trained in spiritual accompaniment.
We offer space for a Kairos day in our Garden Room and a longer stay in our lovely shepherds hut called Skylark.

A little background
Jane was ordained as a United Reformed Church minister in 1995 and served as a church minister for 26 years, holding various Synod roles and chaplaincies along the way.
She trained as a Retreat and Quiet Day leader in Wessex Synod through in house courses and at Sarum College where I went on to train as a Spiritual Director in 1999, training in Pastoral Supervision at Westminster College, Cambridge accredited through Wesley College in 2022.
Jane is passionate about bringing out the best in people and offering help and encouragement to enable people to find the freedom to be the people God created them to be.
Jane says ‘I have a deep spirituality that is hard to define. It is rooted and grounded in my Christian faith yet free to fly.
This has grown from the awe and wonder of childhood, through awkward teenage years, marriage and motherhood, love and loss, pastoral ministry, hospice chaplaincy, routine and innovation, commitment, perseverance, beginnings and endings, despair and delight.
I have expressed my faith in words and action, worship, meditation and contemplation, dance, embodiment, gardening, rescuing dogs, love of my granddaughter, and exploring the connectedness of all things.
My training for Spiritual Direction with Sarum College was entitled ‘Finding God in all things’. I loved its Ignatian flavour and went on to complete the Ignatian 30 day Spiritual Exercises. I bring all of this into my practice and love to provide a safe soul space where people can reconnect with their Creator and explore their faith.
